Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)

Summary
Well, what can I say except that It was one of the best sequels I have ever seen in my life full of good character development, and some drama added. The jokes were great, the story building effective, and the new villain was awesome! This movie had excellent continuity to the original, and a surprising and heartwarming plot twist. All of this makes this sequel better than the original!

What's it about?
The story takes place where we left off in Kung Fu Panda when Po has already joined the Furious Five in fighting crime and saving innocent citizens. The team is asked to defeat a brand new villain named "Lord Shen", who carries with him a weapon that is so powerful that not even the greatest Kung Fu masters of all time can stand a chance against it.

The good bits
The film had excellent story building, faithful continuity to the original, and worthy character development. The drama was heightened and there were plenty of Good jokes The impressive new villain was easy to love to hate, and the movie had a highly surprising and emotionally heartwarming plot twist near the end. Overall It was superior to the original.

The bad bits
There was nothing I did not like about this movie at all. It had some faithful similarities to the original, yet it didn't feel too much like copying and pasting like most sequels.

What is it similar to?
It has more drama and more action scenes than most animated films of the time.

Oscar's recommendation
I can recommend this movie to anyone, whether or not they have seen the original first and I can heavily recommend this movie to Kung Fu panda, animation, martial arts and Dreamworks animation fans everywhere. I can also recommend Kung Fu Panda fans everywhere to first watch the original Kung Fu Panda, than watch the Secrets of the Furious Five, then Kung Fu Panda Holiday Special, and then finally watch this sequel.

Parent/carer alerts
Swearing
There was a lot of martial arts fighting throughout this movie, and the weapon Lord Shen uses on all his enemies can be quite violent to some viewers.

Violence
There were a lot of scenes that were quite dark and scary, such as all scenes featuring Lord Shen, all the fighting scenes, the scenes which involve him fighting his enemies, and of course the scenes in which he wipes out an entire panda village both in the opening prologue and the flashback scene. Po's mother was killed while protecting her baby from getting killed himself by giving him away, which can be rather emotional for a film like that as well as some viewers.

Fear
You need to be prepared for a lot of martial arts scenes, fighting scenes, dark and scary scenes, threat, violence, two scenes of the villain wiping out an entire village of pandas and a highly emotional scene of a mother giving away her baby and sacrificing herself for the sake of her baby's life. Also, one of the kung fu masters who is not Po or the Furious Five gets killed by Lord Shen's weapon in the middle of the movie.

Skills
The story is a little bit complicated. There was a lot of violence and threat, a villain trying to wipe out an entire colony of pandas and a very sad scene of Po's mother giving in her life to save her son. You need to be prepared for those scenes, and try to listen carefully to the dialogue and understand the story as hard as you can. If you have difficulties understanding the story and Writing, then you may still enjoy the movie as the way it is, depending as to whether or not you can tolerate those scenes.
